Inspired note from Martin Luther King to Sammy Davis Jr. (via Letters of Note) “The Hammer Museum’s Public Engagement program seeks to create a new kind of interactive museum: an artist-driven visitor engagement program that encourages contact among visitors, artists, and Museum staff, and activates spaces in imaginative ways. This year’s Public Engagement Artist in Residence (A.I.R.) is Machine Project. A small sampling from the photo archives of the Denver Post. It’s rare to see color photographs from this era, and these images lend their subjects a palpable sense of immediacy. It’s hard to explain her work but it is immensely inspiring, beautiful and moving. You just have to come see it. Our friend and neighbor Dee Dee Cheriel is having an opening tonight at Subliminal Projects. Will be a group exhibition of over a dozen female artists that she also co-curated.
