Great to see (and smell) these come through the door yesterday. Cire Trudon is the oldest candle manufacturer in the world, starting in 1643 and revived a few years ago by our very stylish friend Ramdane.  Hand blown italian glass, all natural vegetal wax with no parrafins and 100% cotton wicks make these a great gift or a special treat for yourself.  Come by the shop to experience all 12 scents.

“The Hammer Museum’s Public Engagement program seeks to create a new kind of interactive museum: an artist-driven visitor engagement program that encourages contact among visitors, artists, and Museum staff, and activates spaces in imaginative ways. This year’s Public Engagement Artist in Residence (A.I.R.) is Machine Project.

The Hammer invites you to give your houseplant a vacation, during our August cultural retreat for plants. Throughout the entire month, participant’s plants will be installed in the light flooded Lindbrook terrace, and presented with a series of readings, performances and musical events, for plants every Saturday from 1-4pm”

If you missed the plant dropoff last week, you can still attend the cultural events happening every Saturday this month. The readings, live music and performances are open to everyone, though the programming is explicitly geared toward the plants’ enjoyment - intriguing…reminds me of Lou Reed’s high-pitch Music for Dogs.

Just in…Another excellent piece of American craftsmanship.  Tanner Goods is from Portland, Oregon and make some very high quality pieces from top grade leathers.  This is a reproduction of a 1963 eyeglass case is based off a mid-60’s US Military standard issue case but updated with a few key details. It is constructed from 3/4 oz vegetable dyed English Bridle leather. Each is stamped with the model number, by hand.  Case Dimensions: 7″wide x 3″tall.  The perfect gift…
